SHAUNA WEBSHAUNAThis morning, I did a quick sketch of my three best friends from college, around the table, laughing and sharing a meal. I wish we lived closer. I wish instead of Skype and Facetime, we could do this every week ( But, alas, He has taken us in separate directions, and even timezones, at least for this season)They know me all too well. We can sit comfortably in silence. We know each others’ hurts and we know each others’ dreams. And we learned that, all around the table, during those coveted free time moments in the college cafeteria in between classes and after meetings.

One of my favorite authors wrote a fabulous book on friendship and honesty and life around the table, and I couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t stop nodding my head when she’d speak of the people who knew her so well and how something magical and life-changing happens over time as you break bread with the people you love. That’s how all of my friendships have blossomed. We make memories cooking and eating and grabbing an ice cream cone. We all have those friendships we’d move across the sea to be near and wish we were neighbors.  We need those people who remind ourselves that “the best is yet to come” and who encourage us to dream another dream as we try to live fully in the moment (Shauna Niequist, Bread and Wine).

“….if you take the next right step, if you live a life of radical and honest prayer, if you allow yourself to be led by God’s Spirit, no matter how far from home and familiarity it takes you, you won’t have to worry about what you want to be when you grow up. You’ll be too busy living a life of passion and daring”. (Shauna Niequist, Bread and Wine)

I’m all about that- dreaming abundantly and living faithfully. I’m thankful for her words of encouragement and the recipes she shared. If you want more, I highly recommend checking out her book or my other beloved one of her’s Bittersweet

all my Monday love,
